Saar-Hunsrück Trail

Experience the diversity! The Saar-Hunsrück Trail is ideal for enthusiastic and active hikers.

The Saar-Hunsrück Trail is particularly ... and different from other long-distance hiking trails. It is the premium long-distance hiking trail with the highest proportion of natural paths (75% of the trail) and only 4% of the route is on asphalt. And that over 415 kilometers and 27 stages

Its route is also exceptional: there are three starting or ending points. For example, it leads from the Roman city of Trier over the Hunsrück to Boppard on the Rhine. However, you can also start in Perl and walk through the northern Saarland, then decide at the Keller Steg (crossroads) near Hermeskeil in the Hunsrück whether to continue towards Trier to the Moselle or to Boppard towards the Rhine.

What does the Saar-Hunsrück Trail offer

  • an up-close experience of diverse landscapes
  • a challenging hiking route with a high proportion of paths
  • a versatile route through forests, over mountain ridges, and across meadows
