The Hildegard von Bingen Pilgrimage Trail covers approximately 135 kilometers through the Land of Hildegard and connects important life stations of the famous abbess along the Nahe River. The route begins in Idar-Oberstein and continues through Niederhosenbach, the possible birthplace of Hildegard, further to Bad Sobernheim and to the historic Disibodenberg, where she spent many years of her life.
From there, the path leads over Sponheim, where Hildegard was placed in the care of Jutta von Sponheim as a child, to Bingen am Rhein. Here, she founded the Rupertsberg Monastery in 1150, her most important place of work.
The last stations of the pilgrimage trail include the Pilgrimage Church of St. Hildegard with Hildegard's shrine in Rüdesheim-Eibingen and the Benedictine Abbey of St. Hildegard.
