Additional information
Gently uphill, it goes along pastures to the edge of the forest. Here, a unique view of Hergenfeld is offered. After 2.2 km, the path crosses the county road. Following directly with a slight ascent are the vineyards. To the left, there is a view of the wine-growing areas Mönchberg and Sonnenberg. Straight ahead, the path continues on field paths through the vineyards 'Auf Mayen' and 'Am Himmelberg'. The view of the romantic hilly landscape towards Wallhausen is tinted in lush green.
The further hike, with another view of the Heimbergturm in the background, goes slightly downhill. Here, the Vitaltour 'Kuckucksweg' and Vitaltour 'Stein, Wein und Farbe' intersect. The path leads uphill on green field paths towards 'Biotop Limbach'.
Along the vineyard boundary area, the tour leads to cozy passageways with natural slate weathering soil - also called slate phyllite. Further uphill, a short rest on the resting bench is recommended to let the view wander over lush vineyards and green hilly landscapes.
At the next intersection, it is worth deviating a few meters to the right from the hiking trail. Here, a view of Gutenberg, Hargesheim, Hüffelsheim over the Nahe hills, over Bad Kreuznach to Rheinhessen is offered. To the east, one can again see the Donnersberg.
Back on the path, the view turns to Hergenfeld. From here, it is only about 600 meters to the town center. It goes slightly downhill along lush meadows towards the mixed forest area in the 'Limbachtal'. The path leads under a romantic tree canopy and guides us over gentle leafy paths to the stream of the Limbach. The idyllic, shady spot right by the Limbach invites you to linger with the gentle babbling of the stream. With a bit of luck, one can observe shy wildlife here on some days. The further path leads uphill over steps made of natural materials over soft forest soil out of the idyllic forest area. Here, we are greeted by strong meadows at the forest edge.
After crossing the county road, there is an opportunity to linger with a charming 180-degree view towards Rheinhessen, the Palatinate, and below the Donnersberg towards Hüffelsheim or towards Hunsrück/Soonwald. The wide forest path leads into Buchholz. After a few hundred meters, the varied tour diverts to the right to a mossy path covered with forest roots and leaves. Along a small forest clearing, the route again turns right to a small 'Heiligenhäuschen' - the 'Kindchen'. The legend of this special place, marked by three thick oaks, is described on the small plaque to the right of the small building. This is a very good opportunity for a pause in thought, reflection, or a small prayer! This contemplative site has been restored and is still maintained by the local orchestra association.
The Vital path now leads left to the last section, continuing over natural paths that impress with their beauty under a natural roof. The path is directed left back to the starting point at the sports field.
