Dream Loop Fischbacher Copper Trails

"Kupfi Mouse and Geisti" accompany you on our new Dream Loop and look forward to many...

From now on, you can explore the "Fischbacher Kupferspuren" with Kupfi-Maus and Geisti.

Welcome to the "Fischbacher Kupferspuren". On our dream trail, you will see many remnants of mining from days long past. There are many different mining tunnels in Fischbach, some of which you can discover along your way.

Kupfi-Maus and Geisti will accompany you on your hike. Along the way, you will learn exciting facts about copper and the work and life of miners.

Including access paths, the hike is approximately 4.5 km long. Plan about 2 hours for the journey. Remember to wear sturdy shoes, as the trail goes along narrow paths through nature.

Geocaching enthusiasts will also find something to enjoy: The geocache "Glück auf!" GC4CM9E is a multicache that extends over 10 stations along the dream trail.

Additional information

The hike starts at the Historical Copper Mine Fischbach.

Tip: Bring enough time to also visit the copper mine. There is much exciting to discover here.

Kupfi-Maus shows you the way along the dream trail with her little signs.

The dream trail runs partly together with the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, the dream trail Copper-Jaspis Path, and the Hildegard von Bingen Pilgrimage Trail.

First, follow the road (K30) on a path next to the road. After about 300 meters, you will cross the K30. You will go over a bridge across the Hosenbach.

You will see the information board "What is Copper" where Geisti and Kupfi-Maus will tell you more about this metal at this station. Then follow the path to the right. Soon you will see the sign "Dry Stone Wall". Take a good look around at this spot. What can you discover?

Continue along the path to learn more about the mine "Neue Hoffnung". The path now ascends, and you will soon arrive at the waterfall. Here is a nice resting spot if you want to take a break.

Have you gathered enough strength? Another ascent follows. Along the way, you will learn what wood was needed for in mining. You will soon reach the highest point of the tour. The path now continues to the subsidence area. It is worth taking a small break here.

It goes uphill again. Now you have completed all the ascents of the dream trail. Hildegard von Bingen will tell you more about her life in the Middle Ages at the next station. Continue downhill and check the next information board to see what tools the miners used.

On your way back, you will also discover a hidden mine and learn more about the mining village of Fischbach with its copper mine.
Then go right again over the bridge that crosses the Hosenbach. On the familiar access path, you will return to the copper mine. In the copper room, you can now strengthen yourself with delicacies and experience the mine underground.

Here you can see all the stations of the tour again:

  • What is Copper
  • Dry Stone Wall
  • Neue Hoffnung
  • Waterfall
  • Wood in Mining
  • Subsidence Area
  • Hildegard von Bingen
  • Tools & Clothing
  • Mining Village Fischbach

The descent to the end of the circular path is relatively steep, so caution is advised.
Hiking shoes are absolutely necessary, and sun protection and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

Sturdy hiking shoes are a must!

Take the quiz with Kupfi and Geisti. As a reward, there is a small surprise at the copper mine. You can find the quiz here: http://besucherbergwerk-fischbach.de/attachments/article/285/Fischbacher%20Kupferspuren%20Quiz%202021.pdf
