A miracle! A child!
The "Song of Praise" of Mary, as it is recorded in Luke 1, verses 46-55, resounds, fitting for the First Advent, on Sunday, November 29, 2026, at 5:00 PM in the Church of St. Walburga (Wasenstr. 24, Idar-Oberstein).
The words full of gratitude and joy have inspired numerous composers time and again to create "Magnificat" settings.
Thus, the Castle Choir of the Castle Association, under the direction of conductor Christian Kurtzahn, sings the late Baroque "Magnificat" by Antonio Vivaldi (composed between 1720 and 1735) and spans a large musically contrasting arc of praise with the "Gospel Magnificat" (1995) by Robert Ray.
Soloists from the Mannheim Chamber Philharmonic perform; Nadine Prinz (soprano), Kathrin Schmollinger (soprano), and Sonja Gottlieb (soprano) take on the solo parts.
"The Winter" - from the "Four Seasons" cycle by Antonio Vivaldi - and other atmospheric Advent works invite you to open "gate and door" for the arrival of the heavenly child.
A heartfelt invitation to this concert!
