UDO SCHNEBERGER is the Artistic Director of the Mattheiser Summer Academy Bad Sobernheim and initiated the festival for the first time in 1988 on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the Johann-Michael-Stumm organ in the Matthiaskirche Bad Sobernheim. At the age of 10, he had his first contact with this instrument, and the close connection to this unique Baroque organ has significantly shaped him.
The internationally esteemed pianist and organist studied in Cologne with Günter Ludwig (piano), the Amadeus Quartet (chamber music), and subsequently church music in Heidelberg with Andreas Schröder (organ). Udo Schneberger became a professor in Japan at the age of 27 and lives in Himeji.
As an organist, Udo Schneberger has performed at numerous significant historical organs and is a welcome guest at international organ festivals in Europe and Japan. Udo Schneberger plays the standard organ concert repertoire, but his inclination belongs to the French composers of the Belle Époque, the Italian and South German Baroque, as well as Johann Sebastian Bach.
