It all started more than 30 years ago with the Hochwald Potato Days in Kell am See, which have since become the Saar-Hunsrück Potato Days. Every year in October, the potato, which was often mocked as a poor man's food, is the focus of culinary attention. Since the two-week event expanded in 2015 from Hochwald to the entire region around the Saar-Hunsrück Trail, more and more businesses and guests are indulging in the 14-day culinary delight centered around the potato. The creativity of our chefs in preparing this staple food during the Potato Days is impressive.
The Saar-Hunsrück Potato Days are complemented by a series of culinary or regional events organized by restaurants, towns, communities, or associations.
