The Thanksgiving Festival combines traditional values with modernity. The highlight of the celebrations is the Thanksgiving parade on Sunday from Rückweiler through the heath to the Thanksgiving cross at Hahnweiler, which attracts many visitors each year. The blessing of the harvest takes place at the Thanksgiving cross in a festive setting.
On the second weekend in October, from October 10 to 11, the Thanksgiving Festival is celebrated on the heath by the four heath communities of Hahnweiler, Leitzweiler, Rohrbach, and Rückweiler in cooperation with the Catholic parish of Herz-Jesu.
In addition to an opening service in the "Heath Cathedral" in Rückweiler and a local evening with a varied program, the traditional festival parade on Sunday is the highlight of the event.
On Sunday, October 11, at 12:30 PM, the Thanksgiving parade will assemble in the new development area in Rückweiler. At 1:30 PM, the parade will begin across the heath to the harvest cross in Hahnweiler, where the devotion and blessing of the harvest will take place.
Afterwards, there will be plenty of time to chat at the community center in Rückweiler during the festive conclusion and cozy gathering. Traditionally, coffee and homemade cakes as well as delicious grilled food will be offered.
Guests and spectators from near and far are warmly invited to join the local evening (free admission) and accompany the Thanksgiving parade to the harvest cross on Sunday, followed by a twilight gathering at the community center to conclude the weekend.
