17. From Mill to Mill in Baybachtal Kneipenmühle

 The Kneipen-, Hüttengeorgen- or Hüttenfranzenmühle
Here we stand now in front of the newly discovered mill ruin that was mentioned earlier. It is located off the path that leads through the valley and therefore remained hidden from the eyes of hikers. One must make an effort to navigate the steep slope overgrown with underbrush to find the site. However, once you are on site, you can still make out many remnants of the mill's walls. The mill dam and the path that led to the mill are also still clearly visible. We had difficulty identifying the name of this mill. In the old cadastral maps, it is referred to as both Kneipen- and Hüttengeorgenmühle. Finally, another name emerges from the old documents, the Hüttenfranzenmühle. We read this in a receipt from a property auction when a Peter Vogt lived in the mill, as well as in a promissory note in which a miller from the Baybach Valley borrowed money from the church in Lingerhahn. All these names likely refer to the same mill. It is not unusual for mills to have multiple names, as they were often named after their respective owners.
