2nd Liesenfelder Jakobusweg Location Former Chapel

At this place, or rather nearby, the first chapel of Liesenfeld is said to have stood. Peter Schug writes about Liesenfeld in the Middle Ages in his "History of the Parishes of Trier": "This place, which was ceded to Emmelshausen, first appears in 1399, although it must be much older. The Jakobus Chapel, which existed in 1609, was temporarily assigned to the few Reformed during the turmoil of the 17th century, namely in 1706... Since the chapel was already old and dilapidated in 1784 and collapsed in 1833, it was rebuilt by the civil community in 1835." The second chapel stood near the current one. For many centuries, people have lived in Liesenfeld who find it very important to have a chapel in the village and to celebrate services there. They are committed to their faith.
