This time we read from the Gospel of Mark: Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John aside and led them up a high mountain, but only they were with him. And he was transfigured before them; his clothes became dazzling white, such as no one on earth could bleach them. Then Elijah appeared to them, along with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified. Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud: "This is my beloved Son; listen to him." And suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus. Mk 9:2-8 Impulse For this special experience, Jesus only takes three of his disciples with him. They see him transfigured, and a feeling of happiness fills them. They would like to preserve, conserve, and hold onto this feeling. "We want to build three tents" and would prefer not to return to the valley, to the lowlands of everyday life. Moreover, they have heard the voice of God. They now know that Jesus is truly the expected Savior. Questions Have I ever had an experience that I would have liked to hold onto?
