6. Liesenfelder Jakobusweg / Ways Cross
Impulse board for the pilgrimage path
This ways cross Liesenfelder Jakobusweg reminds us of the death of Jesus. St. James met his death as a martyr by the sword. We read about this in the Acts of the Apostles: About that time (44 AD), King Herod had some from the community arrested and mistreated. He had James, the brother of John, executed by the sword. Acts 12:1-2 Impulse A martyr is someone who endures persecution, severe physical suffering, and death for the sake of the Christian faith (Source: Wikipedia). James was indeed willing to die for his conviction. He stood up for his faith, even under persecution. Now he, who once wanted the best place in heaven, he, who became weak and fell asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane, was now the one who demonstrated faith strength and loyalty unto death. Questions To which of my convictions do I stand? What am I willing to accept for my conviction / my faith? How do I react to being laughed at? Ridicule or other negative comments regarding my beliefs? The next impulse is located at the bike path.
