At the time of its construction (around 1760/80), the pavilion and the adjacent draw well formed the centerpiece of a generously designed walled garden, which is said to have served as a refuge for the then Baden district administrator. The design likely comes from a margravial court architect from Karlsruhe. The two entrance doors on the east side, with their simple stone frames and classic door fillings, are of particular beauty.
