Badisches Wachthaus

After the dissolution of the Oberamt in 1794, the building was sold to private ownership through auction and later served as a parsonage, Latin school, Protestant primary school, and teacher's residence. From 1915 to 1927, the land registry office was located there, and during the Third Reich, it was a 'Maiden Labor Camp' of the National Socialists. On March 10, 1945, an aerial bomb destroyed the building. In 1954, a multi-family house was built on the same site to accommodate refugees. Today, only the small square watch house from the 18th century in the immediate vicinity reminds us of the former Badische Oberamtsgebäude. Beneath the modern plaster, the original rubble stone masonry still exists. During the Badische period, the watch team was housed here, which was responsible for guarding the extensive buildings of the adjacent Truchsesserei and the agricultural products stored there.
