Castle Ruin "Pfarrköpfchen"

Between 1984 and 1988, extensive earthworks in the area of "Pfarrköpfchen" uncovered remnants of a castle chapel, which have since led to numerous publications and new insights as well as reconstruction attempts in local research.

Even in the 1950s and 1960s, a "grain masonry" could be recognized from the Warmsrother Grund, in the area of Pfarrköpfchen, which was later filled in and covered with garbage. It is believed, based on newer findings, that the castle on Pfarrköpfchen was built in the 12th century. Notably, in addition to the shape of the chapel, the magnificently designed floor, which can be partially viewed in the local heritage museum, is particularly remarkable.

The ruin is freely accessible.

A small but archaeologically very interesting castle ruin can be found at Pfarrköpfchen on the road to Bingen. A piece of the magnificently designed mosaic floor, found in the ruin, is displayed in the Stromberg local museum.
