Castle Ruin "Pfarrköpfchen"

A small but archaeologically very interesting castle ruin is located at Pfarrköpfchen on the road...

Between 1984 and 1988, extensive earthworks in the area of "Pfarrköpfchen" uncovered remains of a castle chapel, which have since led to numerous publications and new insights as well as reconstruction attempts in local research.

Even in the 1950s and 1960s, a "earthen masonry" could be recognized from the Warmsrother Grund in the area of Pfarrköpfchen, which was later filled in and covered with garbage. Based on recent findings, it is believed that the castle on Pfarrköpfchen was built in the 12th century. Notably, in addition to the shape of the chapel, is the magnificently designed floor, which can be partially viewed in the local heritage museum.

The ruin is freely accessible.
