Catholic Parish Church St. Anthony of Padua

Called by Louis XIV in 1680, the Cologne Franciscan chapter decided to establish a monastery in Meisenheim. The foundation stone was laid in 1685, and in 1688 the church was consecrated in honor of the patron saint, St. Anthony of Padua, built according to the plans of the monk Brother Franz Matthias Heyliger. It was equipped with a bell turret, and only in 1902 was a tower added in Baroque style. It is a typically simple late Baroque Franciscan church with a bell turret, but without a tower. The former monastery is now used as a rectory.
