The current building is a simple hall with four round-arched windows on the long sides, a bell tower, and a slate-covered entrance front with a small vestibule. A round window adorns the altar area, which contains a crucifix, figures of the church patrons, and the tabernacle. Both the interior and exterior are tastefully designed and well-maintained.
The predecessor building, measuring 8 x 4 m, was demolished in 1950 after its construction in 1728 and enlargement in 1826. In the same year, the Elzerather began further up the slope “In der Gass” with the construction of a new small house of worship according to the plans of Hermann Mettler, which was solemnly consecrated in 1954. The chapel is dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian. According to legend, these early Christian twin brothers were healers who treated the sick free of charge and converted many to Christianity; their feast day is September 26.
