With great difficulty, a temporary building was erected. In 1761, Pastor Andreas Strahl initiated the construction of the current nave. In 1975, a comprehensive renovation of the church took place. The highlight of the renovation was the redesign of the altar area, carried out by the Wittlich sculptor Hanns Scherl. The motif of the tree of life is predominant here, harmoniously connecting in form and color with the existing Stations of the Cross group and the artistic design of the church. In the design of the tabernacle, the presence of Christ in the sacrament of the altar is consciously emphasized. At the same time, care was taken to ensure that the altar and tabernacle form a unity through the motif of the tree of life, so that the tabernacle seems to grow out of the altar. The church space as a whole is not disturbed by overloaded elements. The visitor's gaze is primarily drawn to the altar area with the crucifixion group.
