The parish church of St. Paulin in Bischofsdhron was built in the 18th century. The construction plans were created by the famous master builder Johann Seitz, a student of Balthasar Neumann. The construction period lasted from 1766 to 1770. The new building was erected on the foundations of a Romanesque church, as was discovered during excavation work in 1968.
The special adornment of the church is the Baroque high altar and the two Baroque side altars. The high altar features the image of the Assumption of Mary into heaven and her coronation. On the left side of the altar stands the figure of Bishop Paulinus, the patron saint of the church, and on the right side the figure of St. Donatus, the patron saint against lightning and storms.
When talking about treasures of art in the municipality of Morbach, the Stumm organ from 1828 with an untouched organ work is at the top. With its 20 speaking registers and two manuals, it belongs to the small works of the organ builders Stumm from Rhaunen-Sulzbach.
In front of the church stands an impressive natural monument, a mighty old lime tree. It was once planted to mark the completion of the Baroque church and today delights not only the residents of Bischofsdhron but also every visitor and holiday guest.
