11 km long hiking trail incorporating wayside crosses under the motto "In the company of God on the paths of life..."
If you find yourself wandering around the village of Horath, you will discover many inconspicuous wayside crosses that our ancestors once erected out of pious sentiment. These sacred places served, in most cases, to give thanks to God for a fruitful harvest or to avert misfortune. In the past, it was natural for people to work and live under the protection of God and the saints. With the crosses always in mind, they tended the fields and hoped for a good harvest through piety and faith.
In today's society, this early Christian sentiment is becoming increasingly out of fashion. Therefore, it is all the more important to preserve the crosses and to document the known information as long as it can still be learned from the older generation.
Some of these crosses have maintained their locations at the edges of paths for centuries. Thus, we people today also need a companion on our journey, not towards ever-increasing prosperity, but on the paths of life to God.
