The Archaeological Park Belginum
You will find the Archaeological Park Belginum directly on the B327, when you...
"Vicus Belginum" - This Roman settlement was already located in antiquity on an important long-distance route from Trier to Mainz. It is marked on the so-called Peutinger Table, a road map of the Roman Empire! The Roman poet Ausonius also mentions it in his famous "Mosella." So, it is not an insignificant place – and it is no wonder that archaeologists found a unique ensemble of residential buildings, temple districts, military camps, and a Celtic-Roman burial site underground. Naturally, life along the long-distance road is a core theme of the modern museum. Upon entering, visitors can expect an interesting symbiosis of Celtic-Roman finds, illustrations, quotes, and texts, presented in a vivid and sophisticated manner, complemented by annually changing special exhibitions. Grave finds literally provide "insights" into the lives of the people who were buried here. Be sure to stroll through the outdoor area to the reconstructed burial mounds! Those who wish can even follow the old Roman road (Ausonius hiking trail).
