Elisabeth Spring

Located in the spa park of Bad Kreuznach, Anas Elisabeth Spring stands on historic ground...

The oldest salt spring in the area of the city of Bad Kreuznach was tapped in 1832 at the top of today's spa park at a depth of about 80 meters. It is called Elisabeth Spring. A private individual carried out the drilling at his own expense. It is named in honor of a member of the then Prussian royal family. Since saltwater has been extracted here, the Kreuznach spa has no longer relied on imports from the Hessian 'Salinental' before the city border. The current structure over the spring dates back to the 1870s and is a focal point of the spa park. The spring is located exactly at the point where the main arm of the Nahe River and the mill pond separate, offering an impressive view of the Nahe weir. Today, the spring is secured by a flood protection embankment that serves as a viewing platform. After serving as a drinking spring for over 150 years, it has now become a popular wine tavern in the spa park, as the drinking cure has been discontinued.
