In Guldental lies a true treasure – an original field railway! In the idyllic Lindelgrund, visitors can discover a fascinating collection of historical field railways and even ride on selected days.
What to Expect
- In the impressive locomotive hall, over 40 locomotives from the years 1903 to 1977 are on display.
- The entire facility is located on the grounds of a former sand pit with field railway operations – the connection to the Faust family and the current camping site Lindelgrund makes the historical context particularly vivid.
- On a nearly 3 km long circular track, visitors can ride on a field railway – an experience for young and old!

- Rides take place on selected Saturdays – dates will be published on www.lindelgrund.de.

- Visitors not only have the opportunity to ride but can also look into the locomotive hall and experience the vehicles up close.
- The museum is privately operated, receives no public funding, and thrives on the commitment of many volunteers – every ride and every visitor supports the preservation of historical technology.
The track leads from the field railway museum over the upper grounds of Lindelgrund. Passing by orchards and vineyards, it goes to the Guldental viewpoint with its magnificent views over the village and the vineyards all the way to the Hunsrück. The route returns through the vineyards and continues down to the old quarry, where the steep red walls tell a piece of earth's history.
Currently, no catering is offered at the field railway museum. About a 10-minute walk from the museum on the camping grounds, you will find the Bistorante II Trenino, where you will be well taken care of during the season from Easter to the end of September. Opening hours are adjusted according to the occupancy of the camping park, usually Thursday-Friday 4-9 PM, Saturday/Sunday from 2 PM.
