As a famous landmark of the city, the medieval church (built from 1482 to 1484) stands prominently above Idar-Oberstein, visible from afar. The ascent itself is a rewarding experience: You enter the interior through a tunnel carved into the rock, which leads over 234 steps. Please note that the rock church is closed to visitors during weddings. Visiting the rock church is only possible as part of a guided tour. Individual visits are not allowed.
Guided tour times: March 15 - November 15, Tuesday to Sunday, 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM. On public holidays and during the RLP school holidays, daily from Monday to Sunday at 11:00 AM, 1:30 PM, and 3:00 PM. Additionally, group tours are available upon request.
Price per person: Adults: €5.00, Adults with guest card €4.50, Children (7 to 16 years), students, people with disabilities (at least 50%): €4.00, Children up to and including 6 years free admission.

The meeting point for the tour is the tunnel entrance directly at the church. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the marketplace to the ascent.
