Forest Educational Trail "Im Gärtel"

A 2 km long circular path leads past the nature conservation area and the forest house through the Baumholder city forest. Along the way, there are many information boards about the forest inhabitants and the forest itself. The nature conservation area offers a special insight into the world of the smallest forest dwellers with an insect hotel, display beehive, and bumblebee castle, as well as a nesting cavity exhibition.

Since the circular path runs along wide forest paths, the educational trail is also easily accessible with strollers, balance bikes, or outdoor wheelchairs.

Tip: Borrow an explorer backpack at the tourist information and go on an exploration tour with a magnifying glass, insect vacuum, and cup magnifier!

Difficulty level: easy, high asphalt content and wide forest paths, well suited for a short walk over easy terrain

Distracting stimuli: It should be noted that the noise from the military training area can be very loud during exercises. Timid dogs should be kept on a leash at all times.
The forest educational trail is a popular walking path, also for families, so good weather is likely to bring encounters with hikers.

Water/Shade: The forest educational trail runs through wooded terrain. There are no water sources directly along the path.

Trash bins/Cleanliness: On the forest educational trail, the principle of "what comes onto the hiking trail must also go back home" is followed as much as possible. Therefore, trash bins are only available at scattered locations. The waste from dogs and humans should not be left on/along the path so that the enjoyment of the hiking trail is preserved for everyone.
