Visitors feel as if they have been transported into a fairy tale cave in Europe's only accessible gemstone mine. Here, you can admire not only uniquely beautiful agates but also sparkling rock crystals, amethysts, smoky quartz, and jasper. On the approximately 400-meter-long circular path through the visitor mine, a knowledgeable tour guide will share fascinating information about the formation and further processing of gemstones. Equipped with a safety helmet, you can discover many uniquely beautiful sparkling gemstones.
Before mining tunnels were established, gemstone diggers searched for minerals above ground. Visitors are warmly invited to join in today, equipped with picks, hammers, and shovels. Of course, any minerals found can be kept. A ticket booking in advance is also required for the gemstone camp and mining fields.
Sturdy footwear, protective gloves, safety glasses, hammer, chisel, bucket, or other containers should be brought along!
Please note: The footpath from the visitor parking lot to the entrance of the Steinkaulenberg gemstone mine takes about 15 minutes on foot.
You can reach the gemstone mine from the train station square with buses of line 803, stop "Edelsteinminen".
