Already in the 10th generation goldsmith master Hagen Stein has been active in the goldsmithing craft. The fascination for gemstones and the jewelry created from them is, so to speak, in his blood. Together with his wife Stefanie Dingel, goldsmith master and jewelry and gemstone designer, he runs the goldsmith shop Stein located in the old town of Idar-Oberstein, directly at the beautiful marketplace. In addition to jewelry pieces from Hagen Stein's workshop, you will also find unique designer pieces from Stefanie Dingel and other jewelry artists from the gemstone region. For her collection, Stefanie Dingel has the gemstones cut in Idar-Oberstein according to her designs. In 2000 and 2017, she received the 1st prize at the German Jewelry and Gemstone Award. Custom jewelry pieces are also gladly made according to your wishes.

Our family has been active as agate grinders since 1603 and as goldsmiths and jewelry makers since 1750 in Idar-Oberstein.
Thus, we have been dealing with the art of goldsmithing and the processing of jewelry and precious stones for more than 10 generations.
The goldsmith shop Stein was newly founded over 60 years ago by my father, goldsmith master Herbert Stein, as the company of his ancestors was destroyed in World War II.

My wife and I are both goldsmith masters and experts with many years of experience. My wife is a state-certified jewelry designer and has won the German Gemstone and Jewelry Award multiple times. I am a gemstone and diamond expert and have completed the relevant courses at the “German Gemmological Institute.” Thus, we can provide you with comprehensive and in-depth advice at any time. In a cozy atmosphere, our customers enjoy professional as well as friendly advice without time pressure.
In our workshop, we work with both traditional and the most modern techniques.
