Half-Timbered House Steinweg 8 in Kirn

Steinweg 8, probably the most beautiful half-timbered house in the center of Kirn.

Steinweg 8
The house Lagrange, built in 1593, is considered the most beautiful half-timbered house in the center of Kirn. The carvings on the half-timbering testify to the wealth of the builder. On the front facade, there are two envy heads. Envy heads – the grotesque faces of animals, humans, or fabulous monsters made of stone or wood – originate from a Celtic custom and were meant to keep misfortune and evil away from the buildings and their inhabitants.

Directions: Coming from the B41, turn onto Binger Landstraße/L183 behind Hochstetten-Dhaun and follow it until you reach a roundabout at the Stadtwerke Kirn (about 4km). At the roundabout, turn onto Altstadt-Straße and follow it for about 350m. Then turn right onto Steinweg. After about 100m, you will reach your destination.
