In addition to the Hildegard exhibition at the Museum on the River, the garden showcases numerous plants from the natural history ('Physica') of Hildegard of Bingen. In this collection, the Benedictine nun described nearly 300 herbs, shrubs, and trees with their (healing) effects on humans. In the small garden, a problem is addressed at the 'Spring Fountain' that many popular writings on 'Hildegard Medicine' overlook: the 'Physica' is only preserved in late medieval copies, which is why no one knows the 'original text' of Hildegard.
