Hunsrück Museum

In the New Castle in Simmern

The Hunsrück Museum is located in the Simmern Castle in the heart of the city and offers an interactive and digital exhibition experience for children, teenagers, and adults. Learn more about the natural and cultural landscape of the region and the different epochs from the Iron Age, Antiquity, the Middle Ages to Modern and Contemporary times.

Changing exhibitions present various themes, currently focusing on emigration to Brazil, and from May 11, 2025, the special exhibition “The Soonwald – Between Magic and Ruin”.

The art collection of Friedrich Karl Ströher (1876 - 1925) encompasses nearly the entire body of work of the painter and sculptor. The current exhibition features neo-impressionist paintings created in the context of his travels to Spain. Due to roof renovations, the exhibition is presented at the main branch of the Kreissparkasse Rhein-Hunsrück in Simmern.

In the foyer, contemporary art by regional and national artists can be seen. Information about all exhibitions & events can be found at https://www.hunsrueck-museum.de/termine/.
