Until the time of the 'Thousand-Year Reich', Rheinböllen was one of the municipalities in the Simmern district with a larger Jewish population. Around the middle of the 19th century, the oldest Semitic traces in the town became recognizable. The oldest decipherable tombstone in the Jewish cemetery on the road to Bacharach has the date of death of a Gottlieb Rauner as September 11, 1867. A total of 34 gravestones have been preserved.
The cemetery is located northeast of the town at L 224 (Bacheracher Straße), near the A 61 at the edge of a hedgerow property. There is parking available at a junction of a field path. Following the field path towards the highway, one reaches the cemetery after about 500 meters.
