KIESELAY

The Karbacher Mountain with its thousand spellings.
No, it’s not quite a thousand, but quite a few, as we found out during our research. Whether Kieslay, Kisley, Kiesley, Kisley, Kiselay, Kissley, Kisslay, Kisselay, Kisseley, Kißley, Keseley... In the end, we agreed on the spelling as pronounced here in the village: KIESELAY.

The Kieselay is a mountain mostly made of Rhenish slate, located in the valley of the Karbacher Bach, where some beautiful fish ponds (private property) can be found. There was even a mill in this valley in earlier times.

Additionally, the Karbacher Bach valley served as a refuge for the residents of the lower village during World War II.
Not far from here
was the small
settlement called Angsthausen.
Back then, as today, it is especially fun for children to
climb the mountain this way.
There was always an echo, is it still up there? You can expect a narrow winding path lined with moss, wild blueberries, and gnarled oaks.
Once you reach the top, you can catch your breath and enjoy the view of the forest and the valley from a bench.
Just a few meters down the other side, a table with benches invites you to take a break or have a picnic.
From there, the Rheinhöhentour St. Quintin continues
alongside the mountain back into the valley.
