Picturesquely stretched out, the back of the Disibodenberg lies in the confluence triangle of the stream Glan into the Nahe. The monastery ruins are hardly recognizable among the treetops of the tall trees. Nestled in the romantic landscape park created by the famous Heidelberg gardening inspector and garden artist Johann Metzger in the mid-nineteenth century, the ruins are situated on the plateau of the mountain.
From here, you have the most beautiful view into the valleys of both rivers. You can clearly see the layout of the former monastic buildings during your walk. Upon entering through the gate, the church, cloister, and chapter house are clearly visible. Supported by discreet but informative signage, you can explore the other areas of the monastery, recognize the Benedictine floor plan, and enter the still imposing later Cistercian large buildings preserved in the outer walls, which close off the slope to the Nahe Valley.
