Mariengrotte

In the Holzbachtal, not far from the country hotel 'Zur Katz' in Halsenbach-Ehr, there is a small Marian grotto in a rock. It is unknown who placed the Madonna in this rock niche on the slope and for what occasion. Thanks to private initiative, the grotto was made accessible about 35 years ago and has been lovingly maintained to this day. Two benches invite visitors to linger.
You can reach this place from Hotel Katz via the 'S4' marking, a circular path of about 4 km. But there is more to explore:
the Holzbachtal, which has fortunately become more open due to deforestation on both sides of the stream, flows into the well-known Ehrbachtalweg about 1.5 km above the Hierermühle.
