The Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park has existed since 2015. It is a development national park, meaning that nature is gradually being given control here. The park is a hotspot for biological diversity and is characterized by its ancient forests as well as a rich variety of plant and animal life.
Especially noteworthy is the high number of wildcats, which are becoming increasingly rare in Europe. The rocky landscapes and beautiful beech forests are also impressive. The fortification of the Celtic ring forest of Otzenhausen illustrates the history of people from long ago.
On the free ranger tours, young and old can experience nature in a special way: whether following the tracks of wildcats, on a mystical tour through the landscape, up to the highest mountain in Rhineland-Palatinate, or on a tour to the heritage of the Celts in Otzenhausen, the various tours offer something for everyone.

The three national park gates provide an interesting insight into the protected area. Animations and exhibits take visitors on a journey into the fascinating world of the national park with its wild forest, mysterious moors, and impressive landscapes. A modern exhibition awaits visitors over approximately 300 square meters. Interactive exhibits and displays invite touching, participating, and trying out.
