The Oberhauser Rocks/Kirner Dolomites are undoubtedly the climbing area par excellence in the Hunsrück.

Oberhauser Rocks/Kirner Dolomites
A unique natural experience is offered by climbing in the Oberhauser Rocks, also known as the Kirner Dolomites. Between Kirn and Oberhausen lies the climbing paradise for beginners and advanced climbers.
Far from everyday life and hustle, fully focused on yourself and the mountain, you climb higher and higher. A variety of well-secured routes in different difficulty levels are available for selection.
The three climbing areas are easily accessible and have sufficient parking spaces. The rocks are mainly composed of solid quartzite and offer numerous opportunities to set your own anchors. All climbing routes are equipped with glued bolts, and the belay stations consist of two bolts or a chain.

The breathtaking view into the valley, onto the Kyrburg, Castle Wartenstein with the adventure world of forest and nature, and the town of Kirn rewards you for the ascent. To conclude, the local gastronomy with regional cuisine and the barbecue hut below the rocks invite climbers to share their climbing experiences.

Kirner Dolomites/Oberhauser Rocks
In total, there are about 60 routes between 8 and 18 meters in length with difficulty levels from II to VII UIAA, as well as 3 multi-pitch routes with a difficulty of IV.
Access is via Kirn to Oberhausen, where parking is available at the sports field or near the rocks.

Black Wall – Kirn-Kallenfels
The wall offers about 15 routes up to 30 meters in length with difficulty levels from IV+ to VII+, all overhanging. A practice climbing garden with 7 easy routes is also available and is particularly suitable for climbing newcomers and children.
The parking lot is located directly at the foot of the wall with a barbecue hut in close proximity.

Wehlen Rock/ Wehlen Ridge
Located in the district of Kallenfels, this rock offers a long ridge climb up to difficulty level IV, but is only partially bolted.
