In the year 1567, Duke Wolfgang of Wittelsbach-Zweibrücken built the 'Zweibrücker Schlösschen' near the Upper Gate for his daughter, Countess Christine. This building is still a remarkable structure today. It is a two-story Renaissance rubble stone building with a hipped roof and a round stair tower.
