Recreation Forest Ortelsbruch
The "Recreation Forest Ortelsbruch" is a beautiful local recreation area at the foot of the Idarwald, south of the village of Morbach, and the ideal place to explore nature, relax from everyday stress, and be active in sports. Right by the parking lot is the popular and diverse forest playground. Here, your children can swing, slide, climb, race on the tree zip line, or just romp around while you relax on one of the many resting benches. If you prefer to be active with your children or grandchildren, that's no problem either, as the playground will be expanded into a "multi-generational playground" in the first half of 2013.
Ortelsbruch is also a popular destination for women and men who want to do something for their fitness. The forest sports path challenges almost all muscle groups at 18 stations. The same is said for the trend sport "Nordic Walking." Here, several trails of varying difficulty begin, which are also well-suited for hiking.
Additionally, many hiking trails run through Ortelsbruch, such as the "Saar-Hunsrück-Steig," rated as the best premium long-distance hiking trail by the German Hiking Institute, the dream loop "Ölmühlentour," the "Romantic Mill Hike," and the hiking trail "In the Footsteps of Ausonius."

In winter, the 250 m long and 25 m wide toboggan run near Ortelsbruch offers fun for young and old.
The generously designed forest and nature trail provides you with a lot of information about 63 species of trees and shrubs. The "Path Through the Moor" also deals with flora and fauna. You can walk dry-footed through the typical mid-mountain swamp of the region on two differently long wooden walkways. Here, a special plant and insect world developed over the four thousand years of peat formation. The "Path Through the Moor" is the only moor educational trail in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. The near-natural deciduous forest and bushes are an ideal retreat for the diverse native birdlife. Information boards provide details about the ornithological diversity in Ortelsbruch.
