Clothes make the man; this proverb gained additional fame through the novella of the same name by Gottfried Keller. Good clothing enhances one's reputation, and this is still true today. From the second half of the 19th century, the bourgeoisie dictated fashion and clothing behavior: clothing as a reflection of bourgeois virtues: order, diligence, cleanliness, frugality, sense of duty, decency, and modesty. In the clothing department, we showcase festive clothing from the 19th and 20th centuries up to 1920. After that, a completely new clothing behavior emerges. Exhibitions from the 1920s to the 1980s are planned for the coming years.

Clothing as part of material culture has increasingly come into the public consciousness in recent years. What applies to all cultural assets in museums also applies to clothing: the main task of the caretakers of cultural assets is to preserve each historical object as a testimony and source of past cultural-historical and social structures for future generations.
