Richterborn

Natural monument Richterborn

The Richterborn, in the dialect „Richtaboor“, is a spring surrounded by rubble stones in the Haardtwald north of Morbach.
Its use in Roman times is not clearly documented; presumably, Roman road builders channeled the spring water
through the road embankment and created a well facility for travelers.

Its name also recalls past times:

According to a tradition, the Richterborn could go back to an earlier place of judgment at the spring. Thus, the idea surrounds this quiet place that not only water flowed here, but also justice was spoken.
Since 1940, the Richterborn has been protected as a natural monument .
