Since its inception, the city pond, which is also referred to as the heart of the city of Baumholder, has been highly valued by the public as an inner-city recreational area and is especially popular in the summer.
The natural swimming pond, which attracts not only locals, offers nearby relaxation and entertainment for the whole family. In summer, the pond terraces and the newly designed beach area, as well as the spacious play and adventure area in front of the beach, provide opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment.
The pond is ideal for our little guests, who find joy in and around the water, for example, at the artificially created sandy beach and the modern playground.
The use of the city pond is free of charge year-round. The swimming supervision is provided by the city of Baumholder and the DLRG.
Within a few minutes, the old town with shops, the ice cream parlor, and restaurants can be reached. At the pond, you will find plenty of free parking spaces. Sunbathing areas, a kiosk, and sanitary facilities are available for bathers. The artificially created sandy beach and a large sandbox are ideal for children, and ball games (e.g., volleyball) are possible on the sunbathing lawn. In the middle of the pond, there is a giant trampoline with a catapult and slide, which is especially popular among young bathers.
Stand-up paddling on the pond is allowed. Those who do not own their own SUP can rent one of the three SUPs from the DLRG for a small rental fee.
From mid-July 2024, the association will also have two water walking balls available, which can also be used for a rental fee. You step into the large balls and can then walk - or roll - over the water without getting wet.
Five new motorhome parking spaces with electricity and water supply are available in front of the pond.
In summer, the local DLRG association organizes various activities and festivals around the pond.
In cold winters, when the lake turns into an ice surface, it is popular for ice skating.
Dogs are allowed on the open sunbathing lawn.
On the pond's circular path, dog owners will find enough trash bins and dog waste bag dispensers to keep the paths clean. Please keep dogs on a leash.
