Stone Sculpture Museum and Stone Sculpture Park

Large sculptures from the Kubach-Wilmsen family of images form a sculpture park in front of the steep wall of...

Not far from the impressive backdrop of the Red Rock in Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg, the sculptors Kubach-Wilmsen established their open-air studio in 1968. Almost their entire life's work has been created in this landscape. Since 2001, they have been transforming the abandoned vineyards into a stone sculpture park that is open to the public. Visitors and observers are presented with a natural landscape in the Nahe Valley, featuring stone sculptures as stone-piece works of the earth. Nearly 30 sculptures have already found their place in this landscape. The sculptures refer to the evolution of their material from all five continents, while others visualize the history of stone in a new context within the atmospheric light of the Nahe Valley's wine landscape. A sculpture museum has been created by the Japanese star architect Tadao Ando, incorporating an old half-timbered barn in connection with a concrete structure that encloses a water basin.
