Just before the entrance to the
wine and beer garden of the Lemberghütte, enter the Vital Tour through the portal and reach the viewpoint 'Merkurtempel' after just a few meters. Here, the Romans built a cult site that presumably points to early mining at Lemberg.
The path now leads through dense forest to a clearing with a nice resting place. The table/bench combination invites you to take a first small break.
After a zig-zag path, you reach an intersection. Here, countless paths meet. You have the option to shorten the Vital Tour. To do this, follow the yellow signposts and the corresponding signage down towards Schmittenstollen.
If you do not want to shorten the route, follow the 'Werner Ingebrand Alley' to the forest cemetery.
At the 'Förster Wenz Oak', keep to the right, and after a few meters, you will find yourself amidst former vineyard terraces with a view of Feilbingert.
A short steep descent into the valley of the Wildenbach follows. You continue towards 'Landhotel & Waldgasthaus Lembergblick' and cross the bridge over the Trombach, passing a beautiful resting place with a crossroads.
You now walk below the hotel until you reach the main access road, where you keep to the left. Above the hotel, you walk through a small forest and once again have a beautiful view of Lemberg until you reach the first intersection with the Vital Tour Ebernburg after a few meters.
The path now runs parallel to the Vital Tour Ebernburg.
You bypass the Trombacher Hof via a narrow path and enter the wild romantic Trombachklamm - always following the rushing Trombach.
After a few hundred meters, the path forks.
At this point, the Vital Tours Ebernburg and Mysterious Lemberg separate again.
You follow the Trombach over bridges and through a furrow and finally arrive at an intersection.
You follow the signpost to the left 'Visitor Mine Schmittenstollen' and soon reach the 'enchanted' Lemberg Ghost Path with beautiful carvings and great views of the reservoir and Niederhausen.
After a few minutes, you have reached the Visitor Mine Schmittenstollen - the only mercury mine in Western Europe that has been developed into a visitor mine. Here, it is advisable to take the next break.
A guided tour of the mine and the small museum are highly recommended.
After the mine area, you go steeply uphill for a few meters until you turn sharply right into a small path. Then you go right and through the forest to an old quarry with a great view of the reservoir.
The path becomes narrower - past the foundations of the old cable car.
The path winds along the mountain, and magnificent views of the Nahe valley open up again and again. Here, your sure-footedness is required, as the path leads over rocky ground and through untouched nature! Please stay on the path!
At a hairpin turn, a small bench - 'Most Beautiful Nahe View' - amidst the rocks invites you to take a break. Enjoy the unobstructed view of the local communities of Niederhausen (right) and Oberhausen (left).
The path is now so narrow that oncoming hikers can hardly pass. It now leads back into the forest, and after a few hundred meters, you will encounter the zig-zag path that connects Oberhausen with the Lemberghütte.
After going up and just three hairpin turns, you turn right into a path that leads you after a few hundred meters to the viewpoint 'Rapunzel Tower' and offers you a breathtaking panorama.
In the further course of the path, wild orchids, the very rare dittany, and many other protected plants grow. A unique experience that has made Lemberg and its nature reserve so well-known.
Important: Do not leave the paths: Nature reserve and dangerous scree slopes of the former quarries!
The path widens again and leads you to the place where stones were once hewn from the open pit and then loaded onto trucks. Remnants such as spoil heaps, the 'power distribution hut', and the foundations of the loading ramp for the trucks are still clearly visible today.
You cross the large hiking parking lot Silbersee and see the ruins of the old crushing plant rising from the trees on the left. Through the portal and over a few steps, you reach the old transport road that connected the quarries of the last mining period.
Keep to the left after the steps, and after 100 meters, you will reach the turnoff to the Silbersee, which you must not miss. Here, 'Swimming is prohibited!' - the lake belongs to the nature reserve!
Before you walk into the forest, you have one last chance on your left to take a look at the Montfort Castle Ruins.
You pass more quarries (not accessible - nature reserve!) and the resting place 'Pulverhütte'.
The path becomes narrower again and merges into a small path that leads you after a few minutes to the starting point of your hike - the Lemberghütte - with probably the most beautiful view of the Nahe valley!
Insider Tip: Come back here one evening and enjoy the sunset with a glass of Nahe wine on the viewing terrace of the Lemberghütte.
