37th Schinderhannes Robber Festival
In 1988, the local community of Herrstein decided to hold another market. This was meant to reflect the special flair of the historic town center along the German Gemstone Route.
This was the birth of the now widely known "Schinderhannes Robber Festival" beyond the region.
Over 100 artisan craftsmen and farmers showcase their trades and offer their goods in the style of the past. They attract thousands of people to the picturesque little town, filling the streets with vibrant life and transporting visitors back to the good old days. Potters, toy makers, bookbinders, soap makers, basket weavers, shoemakers, garment tailors, woodcarvers, glassblowers, and many other traditional crafts, along with farmers offering fragrant wood-fired bread, cheese, homemade sausage, jams, honey, oils, juices, and fruits, smoked fish, potatoes, vegetables, and juicy fruits enchant visitors with the abundance of nature.
