The history of Disibodenberg is inextricably linked to the lives of its monks. From around 1100, Benedictines shaped the mountain for about 150 years, followed by the Cistercians, who worked here for another 300 years until the monastery was abandoned in 1559.
But what did their daily life look like? The life of the monks was strictly regulated, permeated by fixed routines, prayer, and work. Much of this is hardly imaginable today.
During a joint tour of the ruins, we will bring this past world back to life. We will take a look at the daily routine in the monastery, at clothing, food, and work areas – and at all the small and large routines that defined the life of the community.
