Traveling to the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park in an environmentally friendly way by bus and train? No problem! The train stations Idar-Oberstein, Trier, Wittlich, Türkismühle, and Neubrücke are your entry points. From there, various bus lines will take you directly to the National Park gates:
- The Hochwald express bus line 800 runs from Trier to the Erbeskopf gate,
- line 840 takes you from Idar-Oberstein to the Wildenburg gate,
- the National Park bus line 890 connects Neubrücke with Birkenfeld, the Erbeskopf gate, the Wildenburg gate, and Rhaunen,
- and with line R20, you can travel from Hermeskeil and Türkismühle to the Keltenpark gate.
Off to the National Park!
Explore ancient beech forests, steep scree slopes, spruce forests transitioning to wilderness, rugged rock faces, rare slope moors, vast forest landscapes, and plenty of cultural treasures in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. Whether on hiking or cycling paths: You can experience nature and history on your own or join a guided tour to learn about the local flora and fauna. With a bit of luck, you might spot a wildcat. The three National Park gates offer you a variety of attractions: at Erbeskopf with its summit and exciting exhibition, at Keltenpark with cultural history and ring wall, and at Wildenburg with rock paths and a wildlife enclosure.
