Welcome to Strieder's Mill - Beer Manufacture (since 2022) In the beautiful upper Baybach Valley, you will find the first official brewery in the Rhein-Hunsrück district, where Hunsrück beer is produced by hand in Strieder's Mill. This fulfills a long-held dream of electrical engineer Klaus Lubischer from Bickenbach: Hunsrück Ale is available in bottles, cans, and now also on tap. Klaus Lubischer has also established contacts with the sixth generation of the former miller Strieder, who emigrated to Brazil in the mid-18th century. Beer is also brewed there today, and they visit each other and share knowledge of brewing art. You can purchase the beer here: REWE Boppard, EDEKA Wirz Buchholz, Tourist Information Kastellaun, Visitor Center Geierlay in Mörsdorf, as well as enjoy it in various restaurants in the Rhein-Hunsrück district, including the Alte Stadttor in Kastellaun and possibly next year directly in Strieder's Mill.
After that, we arrive at the Thörlinger Bauernmühle, which was also called Strieder's Mill. In 1793, according to an entry in the court book of Halsenbach, the couple Schweikard Liesenfeld and Anna Maria König resided in this mill. Later, it was inhabited by the family of Johannes Strieder, who emigrated to Brazil in 1858. Descendants of them have erected a memorial plaque at their ancestral home in memory of the colonists. Here, nature lovers have also established a holiday resort in modern times.
