DREAM LOOP Schillinger Panorama Path

The dream loop on the Saar-Hunsrück Trail is aptly named for this new panoramic path. Starting from the recreational area at the edge of the forest in Schillingen, the path leads around the village with a population of 1,300, offering stunning views of Schillingen and the two highest ridges of the Hochwald - the Schwarzwälder Hochwald with its highest peak, the Teufelskopf, and the Osburger Hochwald with the prominent Rösterkopf. The path is characterized by a constant change between trails across open fields and paths through ancient forests and along various streams. The Schillinger Waldweiher, the Fatima Chapel, and the Kell Reservoir are additional highlights along this route, which impressively reveals the natural beauty of the Hochwald to hikers. The 16 km long path can be walked year-round, considering possible restrictions due to force majeure, such as ice, snow, or storm damage. Due to its length and predominantly path character, the route is classified as moderately difficult. With breaks, one should plan 5-6 hours for the complete hike.
