DREAM LOOP Ruwer-Hochwald Loop

Dream Loop on the Saar-Hunsrück Trail A wonderful 12.8 km long hiking trail that presents the beautiful natural landscape of the Hochwald in a balanced and varied way. The path alternates between forests and meadows. Wide views with panoramic vistas, bizarre rock formations of quartzite cliffs, and the gurgling Ruwer, which is crossed twice, make this tour a great hiking experience. Special attention is deserved by the natural monument Heckelbuschfelsen in the Schillinger Forest. The geological history of the landscape-defining quartzite cliffs in the Hochwald dates back over 300 million years to the Carboniferous period. The great hardness of this rock made of silica makes quartzite resistant to weathering influences.
